NIAIA Indoor Track Blog I - 12/10/2007

Hello again everyone. After a little layoff on the NAIA scene, we are back in action with a few early season Indoor track meets. It was a bit difficult figuring out who all raced, so I am sure that I missed some teams, so please forgive me. If I come across anymore, or if anyone helps me out with an email or something to direct me to some I missed, I will come back and add them in.
Top Performers of the week: The top performer on the womens side was Amanda Mayfield from OBU. Mayfield won the open 800 at K-State with a time of 2:18.05. Mayfield was last years NAIA champion indoor in the 600, as well as in the 800 outdoors. She also helped her team to All-American finishes in the 4x8, 4x4, and 4x1.
The top performer on the mens side was William McCaskill from St. Gregory’s. McCaskill placed 2nd in the 400 to his former teammate Jerry Jones with a time of 48.54. Last year he placed 2nd indoors and 1st outdoors in the 400, as well as winning the 4x4 in both indoors and outdoors. Their 1st place effort indoors in the 4x4 was fast enough to set the NAIA national meet record.
Mid America traveled to Aimes, IA to compete on the 300m track at Iowa State. The meet results can be found by clicking here as soon as they are posted. They were not up last I checked, but this link will take you directly to them as soon as they are posted. The Pioneeres day was capped off by a B standard for the mens 4x4 with a time of 3:21. The relay was highlighted by a 48.xx leadoff leg by Omar Dyer.
Lindenwood University opened up their track season with a meet at Illinois. The results for the meet can be found by following this link. The top marks for Lindenwood were B standards by Andrew Mapp with his 8.55 in the 60m hurdles, and a 1:39.64 in the womens 600 by Zhulie Mechkaraska.
Oklahoma Baptist and St. Gregory’s both traveled to Manhattan, KS to compete in the season opener at Kansas State, and the full results can be found by clicking here. I decided to simply list the athletes who achieved the A and B standards.
