NAIA Blog III 11/16/2007

Tomorrow morning is the big day for NAIA cross country. First of all I want to apologize for getting this up so late; I was having some internet difficulties here at the hotel. I will try to get these upcoming event blogs up by Thursday each week. So on the women's side, Simon Fraser has put together another great team, and is going in as the favorites. The last few years have been nothing short of a dynasty, and this Simon Fraser team will look to build on their streak, as they continue to pencil themselves down in history. Although Simon Fraser has held so strong, the #2 ranked Cedarville team continued their solid season with a great race last week at Christian Nationals, and are by no means a team to be taken lightly. Azusa Pacific, Milligan, and Malone round out the top 5 in the final rating and it will surely be a good race up top. The men's side kicks off with Malone, who took the preseason #1 spot and never looked back. These Malone Pioneers rely on a very deep team, which will make them a tough team to dethrone. Right on their heels is Aquinas and Cornerstone, who will definetely have their fair stake in a bid at the national title. Leading the Cornerstone team is Sr. Derek Scott, who has continued to build on an amazing career and represent his school with pride. I had an opportunity to chat a bit with Derek tonight about his season and his goals for his team, as well as himself in the race tomorrow in the following interview.
As Derek said, there are several teams who are in position to make a run at taking home the title and it will be an exciting race tomorrow. Look back tomorrow for coverage including results, race footage, and interviews. Thanks, Mark
